Once you login to LC Moodle (moodle.lclark.edu), access the My Courses tab to see your In Progress courses. Use the available features to search and filter for all, future, or past courses as well.
Once you login to Moodle, access the My Courses tab to see your In Progress courses.
Check that you are logged into moodle.lclark.edu with your LC username and password. If you had to create an account, you are not accessing Lewis & Clark’s Moodle site.
Ask if your instructor is using Moodle and if they’ve published the course. Not all instructors use Moodle or an LMS and some choose to hide the course until it is ready to view.
My instructor is using Moodle, and I can’t see my course. Can others in your class see the Moodle course? If not, then the Instructor has not yet made the course visible.
My instructor is using Moodle. I can’t see the course and others in the class can. There are typically two reasons for this:
-
This is the first time you have logged into Moodle. Moodle can’t enroll you into classes before your initial login. The system updates every hour, so check back again in a few hours. If you still don’t see your courses, please get in touch with us at itservice@lclark.edu.
- You registered for the course today. Check Webadvisor to confirm your add or other registration request has been processed in the system. Moodle auto-syncs with the system hourly. If Webadvisor shows you’re registered in a class, your Moodle enrollment should automatically update within a few hours.
Instructors can also manually add students or request that IT do so. This request must come from the course instructor.
Use Moodle’s Import feature to copy everything or select elements from your other Moodle courses.
Submit a service request for Moodle administrators to link your individual sections into a single course.
Moodle courses for CAS and Law courses are archived for a period of 2 years following the end of a term and hidden from student’s view. Instructors may choose to continue to make a course viewable to students during this archival period or grant specific students access to view the course.
Grad Moodle courses remain viewable to students for 1 year following the end of a term by request of the Graduate School Research and Assessment Office to make it possible for students to access prior term coursework as they build assessment portfolios. After this they are archived for 1 year.
Following the archival period, Moodle courses are deleted unless an instructor requests for a course to be moved to the Long Term Moodle Archive. Please note that IT cannot guarantee that Moodle courses will continue to function properly on future versions of Moodle. This practice helps ensure that our Moodle courses remain compatible with current updates, free of superfluous data, secure, and in alignment with Lewis & Clark’s data policy.
Start of Term
- Looking to reuse content from a prior term course? Here are the instructions for the import feature. (Helpsheet)
- Want to create or improve a Moodle course page? Request an appointment here.
- Moodle courses are initially hidden from students to give you time to add and format your course. Make Your Course Visible (Helpsheet) when you are ready for students to access your page.
- Students will always see grades on graded activities such as assignments and quizzes. However, you can choose to show or hide the Moodle gradebook. Here are instructions for managing whether your gradebook is visible to students.
New to Moodle? Here’s help getting started
For the 2024-25 academic year we are running version 4.3. The links below reference this version. Moodle HQ has comprehensive video tutorials designed to help teachers learn how to effectively use Moodle. Free online training courses are available on Moodle Academy. A shorter series of overview videos also describes the most recent features in Moodle. We describe Moodle as easy, but not intuitive. The EdTech team is available by appointment for individual consultations or you can request training or instructional design support
