Lochner Chosen Teacher of the Year
Lewis & Clark students selected Janis Lochner, Pamplin Professor of Science, as teacher of the year. She is the first natural sciences faculty member to receive the award.
“Janis imparts to us her love for the subject matter,” said Kathryn Shimmon ’03, a biochemistry major. “She has something for everyone and takes care of all her students equally.”
Lochner has been with Lewis & Clark since 1982. She is a member of the chemistry department and chairs the interdisciplinary program in biochemistry. In 1986, she received the Burlington Northern Award for Teaching. Her areas of interest include the intracellular trafficking and synaptic release of neuronal proteins in relation to long-term memory formation.
The teacher-of-the-year election process is organized by the Dr. Robert B. Pamplin Jr. Society of Fellows.
