Women’s Track and Field
Sadie Grossman ’04 (left) crossed the finish line of the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III nationals with a time of 39:39.52, finishing 15th in the nation. Grossman set two separate school records this season in the 5,000 and the 10,000 meters. She was also named the Lois Smithwick Female Athlete of the Year this spring.
Jody Swan ’05 finished fifth in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III track and field championship in May with a time of 56.19. Swan’s fifth-place finish earned her NCAA Division III All-American honors.
Women’s Rowing
Varsity rower Stacy Skiftenes ’04 was named first-team All-American in NCAA Division III rowing. She is the first All-American rower for the College.
Tessa Spillane, head women’s crew coach and instructor in physical education and athletics, was named 2004 Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference Women’s Coach of the Year. In Spillane’s third season at Lewis & Clark, she coached the women’s varsity eight team into the national ranks, rated as high as No. 14 in Division III rowing. This year marks the first time the College has been listed among the nation’s elite for this sport.
