Dean Casbon leaves, heads to OSU in Bend
“I have had the opportunity to collaborate with some amazing individuals at Lewis & Clark,” says Casbon. “I will miss the depth and diversity of our faculty community, and their commitment to innovative academic programming. I hope to take their wisdom into this new chapter in my career as an educator.”
While dean, Casbon supported the acquisition and development of the College’s south campus, where the Graduate School of Education has its new home; garnered $5 million in grants for research and student education; and increased the diversity of the school’s students, faculty, and staff. In addition, he brought two nationally respected programs to the campus: Courage to Teach and the Northwest Small Schools Workshop.
“Jay’s leadership has been invalu-able to Lewis & Clark,” said President Michael Mooney. “Under his guidance, the School of Education has focused its programming, broadened its appeal, and established a new home in Rogers Hall. These achievements will enable the school to build on this high quality to become an educational center of national significance.”
