North Road Closure: Pardon Our Dust!

If you’re sticking around campus for spring break, get ready for a little detour adventure! From March 25 to March 27, crews will be hard at work repaving a large section of North Road (Gate 2 entrance road) to keep things smooth for your return.

Fowler Paint Bubbles Will Bust – Siding Replacement on the Eastside

Ever noticed those pesky paint bubbles on the east side of Fowler? Well, no more! We’re replacing the old, wet siding to stop moisture from sneaking in and causing damage.

When moisture seeps in, it can wreak havoc on a building’s exterior, causing unsightly paint bubbles and even interior damage. With the new siding, Fowler will be looking better than ever, and we’re making sure its exterior will be protected for years to come.

BoDine + BioPsych Gets a Boost! – Heat Pump Upgrade (Starting March 25)

BoDine + BioPsych is about to get a valuable upgrade to its heating and cooling system! Starting March 25, we’re installing a brand new heat pump that’s more energy-efficient and better for the environment. This new unit replaces an older model, bringing BoDine + Biopsych into the future with a new system that follows the latest environmental standards for refrigerants.

Zehntbauer Pumps Up! – Rooftop Heat Pump Installation (March 24)

Zehntbauer is getting a new heat pump unit on the rooftop! On March 24, we’ll be installing this new, more efficient unit to replace the old one with a crane. The upgrade will not only save energy but also meet current environmental standards, making Zehntbauer even more sustainable. This is part of our ongoing commitment to making our campus more energy-efficient!

Why Heat Pumps?

You might be wondering, why all the fuss about heat pumps? Well, they’re way more energy-efficient than the old systems we used to rely on; they’re basically the energy-saving superheroes of the HVAC world. Not only do they keep things comfy, but they’re also better for the planet. As part of our climate action planning, Facilities is actively using capital renewal opportunities to electrify our heating and decarbonize.

At-Risk Trees

Over break there are seven trees that our arborist has identified they are at-risk of failing. The City of Portland Urban Forestry Department has reviewed the identified trees and has approved their removal by issuing permits. The work will be completed in several locations on campus. Please be sure to give the workers lots of space as you travel across campus.

A Stairway to New Heights for Dovecote

Contractors will be hard at work giving some much-needed love to a set of well-traveled concrete stairs! From March 24-28, crews will be replacing the aging stairs near behind the Dovecote, ensuring a safer and smoother walk for everyone. By the time you return from break, the new stairs will be set and ready for action! Until then, watch for construction signs and take a little detour—maybe you’ll discover a new favorite path along the way.

Hydrant Upgrade at Copeland Hall

Starting March 24th, crews will be on site at Copeland Hall to repair a leaky fire hydrant. Not only are we repairing the leaky hydrant, but we are also installing bollards to protect the hydrant from future damage, and we will be upgrading a nearby catch basin, making new connections, and ensuring proper drainage.
