At Lewis & Clark, our approach to sustainability is grounded in our mission to cultivate global thinkers and leaders. We build on the best available scholarship and practice—recognizing the importance and interrelatedness of ecology, economy, and equity—to extend our research and actions beyond our campus and into the wider world.
For our efforts, The Princeton Review has ranked Lewis & Clark #1 in this year’s list of Top 50 Green Colleges. We are holding a special event on Earth Day to celebrate the distinction and highlight our green achievements. Pioneering Progress will feature distinguished guests, including Oregon Governor Kate Brown JD ’85 and Portland Mayor Charlie Hales; Warm Springs Chief Delvis Heath; community partner awards; sustainable food and beverages; and a performance by alumni group Renegade Stringband.

Big Winners
Speech and Debate Shines at National Tournaments
Lewis & Clark’s speech and debate program won a pair of championships at recent national tournaments. The team of Maltin Tocani BA ’25 and Isabella Moore BA ’26 won the Honors division at the YODL national British Parliamentary debate championships, while the Lewis & Clark contingent at the National Speech Tournament won the team title in the limited entry category.
