A Trio of New Living-Learning Communities

Lewis & Clark’s Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) are designated floors in the residence halls for students who share a common focus area. Each LLC has a faculty fellow, an area director, and a student coordinator who work with the floor’s resident advisor to create educational and meaningful programming. Lewis & Clark offered six LLCs this past year: Multicultural Engagement, Holistic Wellness, Environmental Action, Outdoor Pursuits, Visual and Performing Arts, and the Global Village.

This fall, Lewis & Clark will launch three new LLCs: EDUComm (in Alder) will focus on education; ELLC (in Holmes) will address entrepreneurship; and Xperiment (in Copeland) will target science, math, engineering, and health, with a special emphasis on supporting first-generation students.

Like the current lineup of LLCs, these additions give students an avenue to explore their academic interests outside the classroom. “LLCs are important because they marry the in-class experience with out-of-class engagement,” says Forest Area Director Nikki Ludd. “As a result, they deepen and strengthen the entire Lewis & Clark community.”
