Three New Grads Honored With Fulbright Awards

Three graduating seniors will spend the 2018–19 academic year teaching overseas after receiving prestigious awards from the State Department’s Fulbright Program. Lewis & Clark, with its strong record of international engagement, is one of the country’s top producers of Fulbright winners.

Bradley Davis BA ’18, who came to L&C from Fairfield, California, views his overseas study experience as a major factor in his win. A political science major, he will be returning to Morocco as an English teaching assistant, concentrating on teaching writing skills, English literature, and American culture.

Caia Jaisle BA ’18, from Encinitas, California, will serve as an English teaching assistant in Niedersachsen, Germany. A German studies major, she first heard about the Fulbright program while studying on L&C’s yearlong program in Munich. Since much of her family is from southern Germany, she jumped at the opportunity to get closer to her roots after graduation.

Kelley Koeppen BA ’18, from Kirkland, Washington, will serve as an English teaching assistant in an upper-grade classroom in Malaysia. A chemistry major, she credits her experience on L&C’s overseas study program in Cuenca, Ecuador, with inspiring her to apply to the Fulbright program.
