The Master of Studies in Environmental, Natural Resources, and Energy Law (MSL), a graduate degree for those who are interested in learning about environmental law but who do not wish to practice law or obtain a law degree, is now offered online. The online format enables students to gain a master’s degree without relocating or leaving a job. MSL students frequently include federal agency employees, teachers, journalists, and those pursuing careers in lobbying or nonprofit organizations, as well as business people who want a better understanding of environmental regulations.
“In addition to preparing graduates for careers in a variety of environmental policy positions, the MSL provides helpful background in the sustainability area, an increasing area of emphasis for business, NGOs, and government,” said Janice Weis, Associate Dean and Director, Environmental, Natural Resources, and Energy Law Program.
The MSL degree program requires completion of 26 semester hours of credit, which can be accomplished in two years (four semesters) in the online format or one year (two semesters) if a student chooses to pursue the degree full time in person. MSL students are provided an excellent introduction to law with our specially designed Introduction to U.S. Environmental Law and Legal Studies course. Students will also take Administrative Law and Environmental Law and then can choose from other environmental courses to complete their degree.
