Google Ending Unlimited Storage for Schools
Open gallery
In a major change to its offering for schools and students, Google will no longer offer unlimited storage to educational institutions beginning in July of 2022. Instead, Google will provide schools a limited amount of pooled storage (100 TB) to be shared among all users and across all applications, including Drive, Mail, and Photos. IT is currently reviewing data usage reports and meeting with departments that rely heavily on videos and photos to develop alternative storage processes and recommendations. We will ask all members of our community to review and remove unnecessary files from Google in a spring (data) cleaning campaign.
Expect to hear more about our comprehensive plan to mitigate data storage in February. There is no need to take immediate action. Please look for future communications from IT for next steps.
