Law School: New Grant for Black Oregonian Pardon Project

The Meyer Memorial Trust, based in Portland, has awarded the law school’s Criminal Justice Reform Clinic (CJRC) a grantof $100,000 for the Black Oregonian Pardon Project.

The grant will enable the CJRC to assist 100 Black Oregonians with a full pardon application to the governor’s office. This effort will focus on 100 members of the Black community who were incarcerated and released over 10 years ago, who have made positive contributions to their communities following release, but who find their lives adversely affected because of the presence of a conviction on their record.

The pardon process is nearly impossible without legal help, making the CJRC’s work especially important.
