Connecting Budding Educators, Travelers

Two new Living-Learning Communities launched this academic year, enabling residential students to build conections with faculty, Campus Living staff, and each other.

The Aspiring Educators Living-Learning Community brings together students who want to explore careers working in K-12 education. Located in Copeland Hall, Aspiring Educators is a partnership between the College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Education and Counseling. Residents connect with like-minded students, explore opportunities for serving youth in schools and communities, and network with local educators. Many participate in L&C’s Teacher Pathways program, enabling them to earn a BA, an MAT, and teacher licensure in a single 4+1 program.

The Travel Lounge Living-Learning Community is a bridge between a student’s overseas study program and their experiences on campus. Residents of the Travel Lounge engage in programs and peer mentorship surrounding topics of culture and identity, with the ultimate goal of strengthening cross-cultural communication and self-reflection skills. Located in Stewart and Odell Halls, the Travel Lounge connects past, current, and future travelers.
