‘We Love Our City’ NSO 2024 Service Event in Need of Staff, Faculty & Alumni Volunteers

For many years, NSO Service Day has been an important jumping off point for new L&C Students to recognize the important role they play in social change while attending college. Volunteering your time, working with incredible organizations and community leaders; this all contributes to you feeling a sense of belonging and connection to the broader Portland community.

This year, the Center for Social Change and Community Involvement at Lewis & Clark College has partnered with SOLVE to mobilize our entire incoming class around a massive downtown Portland city litter clean up for Service Day.

From SOLVE: “This event is not just about tidying up our streets, it’s about fostering a sense of pride and unity in our city. By participating in this signature event, you play a direct role in shaping the environment we all share.”

Staff, Faculty and Alumni have made this event special by bringing their passion for community and service and volunteering their time! This is a great opportunity for students you work with to see you outside of the classroom or office.

Schedule for the Day:

9:00-9:30 - Arrival & Check-in

9:30-10:00 - Welcome Address & Project and Safety Briefing

10:00-12:00 - Service Event

12:15 - Depart for Return to School

Advanced Registration: Is required. Please sign up HERE ahead of time to guarantee your spot.

Meeting Location: TBD, once registration is complete we will follow up with your meeting location.

What to Bring: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a backpack for hands-free convenience. Feel free to bring your personal tools if available and a reusable water bottle to support our sustainability efforts.

What’s Provided: Trash collection containers, deluxe litter grabbers, protective work gloves, and high-visibility vests, transportation if requested
