L&C Calendar Spotlights Opportunities for Deeper Community Engagement
As of this semester, Lewis & Clark’s onlineevents calendarnow includes several new features, making it easier to find events that encourage and facilitate community engagement.
Three new features were added to the upper right section of L&C’s event calendar: a box to “Search events”, a mini-month calendar, and a check box for “Dialogue in Action.”
“One of our values as an institution is to engage in dialogue,” Clark said. “I want to strongly emphasize how important it is for all of us to put this value into practice as a way to understand each other better and move forward together as a community.”
A Dialogue in Action program or event includes the following:
There is adequate time for dialogue, and diverse opinions, curiosity, and listening are encouraged.
Discussions are facilitated.
Dialogue is modeled and experienced by the audience.
Opportunities for further learning or engagement are shared.
The new collaboration will build a hub for education and economic opportunity within Portland’s redeveloped Lower Albina district to foster learning as a core value of the community and provide opportunities for Albina residents and Lewis & Clark students, staff, and faculty.
