Search Launched for Graduate School Dean
The search for a new dean of the Graduate School of Education and Counseling has begun, with the goal of having a new dean in place by the end of this semester.
The search for a new graduate school dean was initiated after Scott Fletcher announced his retirement after 17 years as dean.
“We appreciate immensely the nearly two decades of leadership and service of Dean Fletcher, who is leaving a lasting impact on the graduate school,” Cort Dorn-Medeiros, associate professor and department chair, Counseling, Therapy, and School Psychology, and search committee co-chair said. “This pivotal transition presents an opportunity to find a visionary leader to build on that legacy.”
Summit will hold listening sessions with graduate school faculty, staff, and students this month to collect critical input and guide the selection process. Opportunities for the larger campus community to meet with final candidates will be announced in March.
“Our graduate school has long been a place where passion meets purpose,” Dean of Equity and Inclusion Danielle Torres said. “This search is an opportunity to welcome a leader who will champion our mission; honor the excellence of our faculty, staff, and students; and join us in advancing the work we care deeply about. We’re grateful to Dean Fletcher for his exceptional leadership and are optimistic that this process will bring us someone who will inspire and guide us into the future.”
