Each year, the Lewis & Clark Board of Alumni honors members of our community for their outstanding accomplishments and service. We’re proud to announce the 2024 honorees, who will receive their awards at the Alumni Honors Celebration during Alumni Weekend on Saturday, June 28.

L&C Alumni Leadership Award (for service to L&C alumni)

Hanako Imber BA ’10

Imber served on the L&C Alumni of Color Advisory Council (2014–15) and the Board of Alumni (2015–21). She has contributed to a number of career-focused initiatives, including Winterim and career panels, and she has also mentored many students. She was the founding president of the L&C Young Alumni Council (2022–24) and recently joined the Board of Trustees.


Donald G. Balmer Citation (for service to the college)

Kim Stafford, Faculty Emeritus

Stafford, founding director of L&C’s Northwest Writing Institute, teaches and travels to raise the human spirit. He often represents the college as a speaker and advocate for the cultural life of Oregon. He has crafted countless poems for some of L&C’s most important events.


Outstanding Young Alumna Award

Frances Swanson BA ’17

In 2023, Swanson was appointed to a team that worked with the U.S. secretary of energy to carry out the climate and energy objectives in President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. She worked with colleagues to help reach the president’s climate goals of 100 percent clean electricity by 2035 and a net-zero economy by 2050.


Distinguished Alumnus Award

Michael Graham BA ’05

Graham has worked across both the public and private sectors, including at the Simon Skjodt Center for Genocide Prevention at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, and Guidehouse. His work has taken him around the world and has included building technology partnerships for atrocity prevention, conflict research, and photography; analyzing large U.S. development programs; and consulting for local and federal government agencies.
