In Step With NYC Dance Company

This spring, the boundaries between professional and student dancers melted away. The New York–based Tiffany Mills Dance Company, headed by Lewis & Clark’s Director of Dance Tiffany Mills, brought its signature style of physical storytelling to campus, performing with 10 student dancers in the West Coast premiere of The Viola Trilogy.

Entrepreneurial Energy

Lewis & Clark buzzed with entrepreneurial energy during Winterim, the annual entrepreneurial workshop and pitch competition hosted by the Bates Center for Entrepreneurship and Leadership. Victor Cho BA ’26, Melanie Gitiha BA ’27, and Alvina Sargsyan BA ’25 delivered the winning pitch for their concept Sunshine Windows, a full-spectrum light strip that installs around windows, syncing with a companion app to gradually brighten with your alarm and mimic natural sunlight.

National Champs (Again!)

Lewis & Clark Law School’s Environmental Moot Court Team snagged its ninth national title at the Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition at Pace University—more wins than any other school in the competition’s history. The three-student team of Lane Kadish JD ’25, Sophie Keller JD ’26, and Michael F. Johnson JD ’25 triumphed over 47 other law schools.

Oregon Book Award Finalists

Not one but two members of the Lewis & Clark community were up for Oregon Book Awards this year—Associate Professor of History Reiko Hillyer for A Wall Is Just a Wall: The Permeability of the Prison in the Twentieth-Century United States (Duke University Press, 2024) in general nonfiction, and Marly Williams BA ’14 for Night Mother: A Personal and Cultural History of The Exorcist (Mad Creek Books/The Ohio State University Press, 2023) in creative nonfiction. The awards are sponsored by Literary Arts. Congratulations to both finalists!

Curtain Up on New Theatre Concentration

The undergraduate college has created a new concentration for theatre majors: arts for community. In addition to coursework on history and practice, students will have the opportunity to intern with local community and arts organizations.

Feathering a New ‘Nest’ The former Maggie’s Café in Roberts Hall has been transformed into a new community resource center called The Nest. The new space houses a food pantry, the ReUse Room (sustainable thrift shop), health supplies, eco-friendly products, and more!

Summer Program Now, Scholarship Later
