Lewis & Clark Named One of Nation’s Top Green Colleges

Lewis & Clark ranks No. 26 on Princeton Review’s 2026 list of Top 50 Green Colleges, earning national recognition for its strong culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability. The honor appears in the newly released Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2026 Edition, which profiles 388 institutions that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Princeton Review chose the colleges based on a survey conducted in 2024–25 of administrators at 401 colleges about their institutions’ sustainability-related policies, practices, and programs. The company also surveyed students attending the colleges about their “green” campus experiences. On a scale of 60 to 99, Lewis & Clark received a green rating of 96.

“Sustainability isn’t just a goal at Lewis & Clark—it’s part of who we are,” says Amy Dvorak, L&C’s senior director of sustainability and communications. “Earning a spot among the top 50 green colleges shows how our community continues to turn that commitment into real action.”

A number of offices and groups at Lewis & Clark address sustainability through on-campus initiatives related to energy, food, recycling and waste reduction, transportation, and cocurricular activities.

The Princeton Review is seeing strong interest among college applicants in attending green colleges. According to one of its recent surveys, nearly 60 percent of respondents said having information about a college’s commitment to the environment would affect their decision to apply to or attend the school.

Lewis & Clark also made Princeton Review’s The Best 391 Colleges (2026 edition).
