Completed and first occupied in 1925, Frank Manor House has stood for a century as the architectural heart of Lewis & Clark. Commissioned by Lloyd Frank of the Meier & Frank department store family—and designed by New York architect Herman Brookman— the Tudor-style mansion has long served as the focal point of the Fir Acres estate.
In 1942, the Frank family made it possible for Albany College to purchase the estate on generous terms, allowing the college to move to Palatine Hill and take the name Lewis & Clark. Over the years, the Manor House has served as a women’s residence, cafeteria, and student union. Today, it houses the offices of the president and chief of staff, undergraduate admissions, and the business office.
Painstakingly preserved, the Frank Manor House remains a place of beauty, history, and welcome—an enduring landmark for the Lewis & Clark community.
