Employees and volunteers working on the Lewis & Clark campus or in an off-campus Lewis & Clark facility are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. (This requirement applies equally to those who have already had COVID-19.) Any vaccine authorized for use by the World Health Organization is acceptable. For employees and volunteers receiving a vaccine that requires two doses, they must receive both doses of the vaccine in order to meet this requirement.
In addition, employees and volunteers are strongly encouraged to remain up to date on booster shots, as recommended by the CDC.
Employees are required to enter dates of their primary vaccination dose(s)in the College’s confidential and secure Human Resources Workday system. Employees are also encouraged to enter dates of booster shots. Until full vaccination is documented, employees may be subject to enhanced testing, masking, or other requirements or restrictions to support community health. Volunteers are required to confirm vaccination to a relevant College official, depending on the nature of the volunteer’s service to the College.
Employees and volunteers may request an exemption from the vaccination requirement from Human Resources for medical or religious reasons, as provided in Oregon and federal law.
- Employees and volunteers who are not able to be vaccinated for a medical reason may seek a medical exemption. The process to request a medical exemption includes providing supporting documentation from a health care provider.
- Employees and volunteers seeking a religious exemption will be required to provide sufficient information to support the request, as well as either 1) signed documentation from a health care practitioner that the practitioner has reviewed with the employee the risks and benefits of immunization or 2) certification of having completed a COVID vaccine educational module approved by the College.
To request an exemption, submit the Lewis & Clark Employee COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption Request Form to Human Resources. Exemption requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
This policy is also meant to apply to employees of long-term, on-campus partners assigned to work at Lewis & Clark, such as Bon Appetit, A&A Maintenance, Barnes & Noble, and Ricoh. Such employees are to work with their employer regarding compliance with this policy.
