Dierk joined the Information Systems group at Lewis & Clark in the spring of 2016, bringing an extensive background in scientific computing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Originally from Northern Illinois he majored in Mathematics and Meteorology at UW-Madison. He has co-authored over 20 articles in atmospheric and oceanic science with numerous professors and students over 24 years. He also worked to help diagnose rainfall anomalies in East Africa and South America. Dierk is excited to be part the Lewis & Clark community to help maintain and modernize the back end systems that run the college.
Dierk’s partner and her daughter enjoy spending time together sailing, hiking and exploring the coast. Dierk’s other hobbies besides racing sailboats include running, biking, windsurfing, watching sports, reading historical adventure books and eating vegetables.
