Tuition Programs
At Lewis & Clark College, we are deeply committed to making high-quality education accessible and affordable for our employees and their families. Our three tuition assistance programs provide valuable opportunities to pursue rigorous academic experiences without the financial burden.
Whether you’re looking to further your own education, support your spouse/domestic partner, or help your children achieve their academic dreams, Lewis & Clark is here to support you every step of the way. Each program is designed with flexibility and affordability in mind, ensuring that education remains an achievable goal for all.
The Tuition Waiver Program allows eligible employees, their spouse/domestic partner, and dependents to receive full or partial tuition coverage for undergraduate and graduate programs at Lewis & Clark College, making higher education more accessible and affordable.
Eligibility:

Available to benefit-eligible employees, their spouse/domestic partner, and eligible dependents after the employee has completed one year of employment.
- CAS students must be 24 years old or younger at the time they start their program
- GRAD / Law students must be 30 years old or younger at the time they start their program
Tuition is waived at the following percentages:
- Undergraduate Programs (College of Arts & Sciences): 100% tuition waiver.
- Graduate Programs (Graduate School of Education & Counseling): 50% tuition waiver.
- Law Programs (Law School): 50% tuition waiver.
Note: This waiver applies to tuition only and does not cover other fees or expenses. Acceptance is not guaranteed and students must qualify for admission per the requirements for each program.
The Tuition Reimbursement Program provides eligible employees with financial assistance for job-related courses or degree programs at accredited institutions, covering tuition costs up to a set annual limit.
Eligibility:
- Available to benefit-eligible employees, their spouse/domestic partner, and dependents pursuing work-related courses or degree programs at accredited institutions once the employee has completed five years of employment.
- Employees working .75 FTE will receive full reimbursement up to the annual limit.
- Employees working less than .75 FTE will receive prorated reimbursement based on FTE percentage.
- See the Tuition Reimbursement Eligibility table below for prorated amounts based on percentage of FTE.
Benefits:
- Reimbursement for tuition costs up to a set annual limit of $5,000 per student per year, and a benefit lifetime maximum of $20,000 per student per year.
- Covers undergraduate or graduate coursework that enhances job-related skills or career advancement.
Requirements:
- Tuition reimbursement covers the cost of tuition only.
- Employees must remain actively employed at Lewis & Clark during the coursework period.
Note: Tuition reimbursement applies to outside institutions (unlike tuition waiver programs that cover Lewis & Clark courses).

The Tuition Exchange Program is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity available to dependents of eligible faculty and staff at over 700 participating colleges and universities. This program allows member institutions to offer tuition scholarships to families of employees from other member schools, promoting educational access and affordability. Eligibility criteria and application processes are determined by each participating institution.
Eligibility: Dependents of benefit-eligible employees after the employee has completed five years of employment.
Benefits: Opportunity to apply for tuition scholarships at participating colleges and universities through the Tuition Exchange network.
- Only one tuition assistance program can be utilized per employee or dependent in a given fiscal year.
- Eligibility and benefits may vary based on employment status and other factors.
- These programs typically cover tuition costs but do not include additional expenses such as fees, books, or housing.
- Application fee is $45, due to the Office of Human Resources MSC #72

Pay the $45 continuation fee via the Tuition Exchange Fee Portal or by check (address listed above).

Approves or denies continued Tuition Exchange scholarship eligibility based on academic performance, conduct, and any other institutional standards.
