Tuition Programs
At Lewis & Clark College, we are deeply committed to making high-quality education accessible and affordable for our employees and their families. Our three tuition assistance programs provide valuable opportunities to pursue rigorous academic experiences without the financial burden.

Each program is designed with flexibility and affordability in mind, ensuring that education remains an achievable goal for all.
The Lewis & Clark College Tuition Waiver Program offers eligible employees, their spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children access to full or partial tuition coverage for undergraduate and graduate programs at Lewis & Clark, helping to make higher education more affordable.
Eligibility
Eligibility depends on employment classification and length of service:

Full-time employees: Eligible after 1 year of continuous service.

Part-time employees (1,000+ hours/year): Eligible after 3 years; benefit is prorated based on FTE.

Employees working <1,000 hours/year: Eligible after 10 years; benefit is prorated.
Covered Family Members
Employee, spouse/domestic partner and dependent children (age limits apply):

CAS (Undergraduate): Dependent must be 24 or younger at time of matriculation.

Graduate/Law Programs: Dependent must be 30 or younger at time of matriculation.
Tuition Waiver Coverage

Undergraduate (CAS): 100% tuition waived

Graduate School: 50% tuition waived

Law School: 50% tuition waived
Note: The waiver covers tuition only; other fees and expenses are not included. Admission is not guaranteed—students must meet all academic and admissions requirements for their program. A new application is required for each term.
Tax Note
Tuition reimbursement benefits may be considered taxable income under federal and/or state tax laws.
Tutition Program Eligibility by FTE
The Tuition Reimbursement Program helps support employees in providing undergraduate educational opportunities for their spouse, domestic partner, or dependent children by reimbursing tuition expenses at accredited institutions outside Lewis & Clark.
Eligibility

0.75 FTE or above: Eligible after 5 years of continuous full-time service for full reimbursement.

0.51–0.74 FTE: Eligible after 5 years of part-time service; benefit is prorated based on FTE.

0.5 FTE or below: Not eligible for tuition reimbursement.
Covered individuals: spouse, domestic partner, or dependent child (as defined by IRS and Lewis & Clark policy).
This program does not cover tuition for the employee themselves.
Benefits

Up to $5,000 per fiscal year (June 1–May 31) per eligible individual

Lifetime maximum: $20,000 per individual

Covers undergraduate tuition only at accredited degree-granting institutions outside Lewis & Clark
Requirements

Covers tuition only (no fees, books, or other costs)

Employee must remain actively employed during the coursework period

Reimbursement requests must be submitted within the fiscal year in which tuition was paid

Cannot be combined with other Lewis & Clark tuition assistance programs in the same fiscal year for the same individual
Application Process
Employees must submit a Tuition Reimbursement application, proof of tuition payment, and itemized billing to Human Resources. Late submissions (for tuition expenses incurred outside of the current financial year) will be denied.

The Tuition Exchange Program is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity available to dependents of eligible faculty and staff at over 700 participating colleges and universities. This program allows member institutions to offer tuition scholarships to families of employees from other member schools, promoting educational access and affordability. Eligibility criteria and application processes are determined by each participating institution.
Eligibility: Dependents of full-time employees after the employee has completed five years of continuous service at .75 FTE or above.
Benefits: Opportunity to apply for tuition scholarships at participating colleges and universities through the Tuition Exchange network.
- Only one tuition assistance program can be utilized per employee or dependent in a given fiscal year.
- Eligibility and benefits may vary based on employment status and other factors.
- These programs typically cover tuition costs but do not include additional expenses such as fees, books, or housing.
- Application fee is $55, due to the Office of Human Resources MSC #72

Pay the $55 continuation fee via the Tuition Exchange Fee Portal or by check (address listed above).

Approves or denies continued Tuition Exchange scholarship eligibility based on academic performance, conduct, and any other institutional standards.
