The Source is Lewis & Clark’s weekly newsletter for faculty and staff. It features campus news, important announcements, employee spotlights, and more—helping you stay connected across all three campuses.

The One L&C Employee Engagement Committee at Lewis & Clark College is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community for faculty and staff.

One L&C Kids and Family Group
The One L&C Kids and Family Group supports Lewis & Clark employees who are parents or caregivers by fostering a sense of community and offering practical resources to help balance work and family life.
Available resources include:

L&C Babysitter List: A regularly updated list of student babysitters available to help with child care needs.

Google Group: An internal discussion and support group where employees can share resources, ask questions, and stay updated on events.

Family-Friendly Events: Including clothing and toy swaps, where employees can donate or pick up gently used children’s items.

Gym Access for Staff
Lewis & Clark College offers a variety of athletic facilities accessible to staff, providing opportunities for recreation and fitness. These facilities are primarily located in and around the Pamplin Sports Center and are available during posted hours to those with a valid L&C identification card.
Key facilities include:

Pamplin Sports Center: Features three full basketball courts that also serve as volleyball courts and indoor practice areas for various intercollegiate teams. The gymnasium seats 2,300 spectators.

Pamplin Weight Room & Fitness Center: A 3,600-square-foot, fully equipped weight room located within the Pamplin Sports Center.

Eldon Fix Track & Fred Wilson Field at Griswold Stadium: Situated immediately west of the Pamplin Sports Center, this stadium hosts Pioneer football, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, and track & field events.

Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion: Houses an eight-lane, 25-yard pool with one- and three-meter diving boards.

L&C Tennis Dome: Located north of the Pamplin Sports Center, featuring four fully covered tennis courts.
Staff members may also purchase athletic facility passes for their dependents at the Physical Education & Athletics main office during normal business hours. It’s important to note that minors must have direct adult supervision while using the facilities, and children 12 and under are not permitted in the weight room or fitness center.

College Outdoors serves the entire Lewis & Clark community, including faculty and staff! The gear rental program includes all the camping basics, just be sure to make your rental reservation in advance.
Each January and May we offer Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training, which is open to the public and teaches the skills to respond to medical emergencies when you are more than an hour from medical care (such as in the wilderness, or traveling abroad, or in a disaster area).
Faculty and staff are also welcome to join a weekend trip with students for activities such as mushroom foraging or cross country skiing. These trips are open to current members of the L&C community, but not to family, friends, alumni, or pets.

Watzek Library Resources for Staff
The Aubrey R. Watzek Library at Lewis & Clark offers a wide range of resources and services available to staff. In addition to borrowing books, media, and equipment, staff have access to:

- Quiet study spaces and reading areas

Boley Law Library Resources for Staff
The Paul L. Boley Law Library, located on the Lewis & Clark Law School campus, is open to all L&C employees and offers a variety of resources beyond legal research.
