Corbett Level 2 Renovation

Focus Areas: Corbett House, Level 2

Construction Started: May 2025

Anticipated Completion: 9/2/2025

The Corbett House is a 40-room mansion, completed in 1929, serving as the family’s home into the 1950s. In 2022, Facilities successfully converted the first floor from a warehouse to a venue for graduate classes and meeting spaces. This summer, the second floor is undergoing renovations to include offices, meeting rooms, and updated spaces.

Originally built for Hamilton and Harriet Corbett, members of one of Portland’s founding families, the estate later served as the Our Lady of Angels Convent under the Sisters of St. Francis . In a full-circle moment, Lewis & Clark College acquired the property in 2000, bringing the family’s legacy back to the institution.

The Corbett House’s story is one of architectural innovation, familial legacy, and adaptive reuse, embodying the spirit of Lewis & Clark College’s commitment to preserving history while embracing the future.
