Hi! My name is Daniella, and I’m a Ugandan student who spent the past four years at UWC East Africa in Moshi, Tanzania.
Some of my favorite experiences at UWC were forming close friendships with new friends, playing sports, and going on Outdoor Pursuits trips. Whether in class, on the field, or hiking in nature, each moment helped me learn more about myself and others. Living in a multicultural environment also taught me to value diverse perspectives.
What made me consider Lewis & Clark was the Outdoor Program and the college’s focus on global engagement, sustainability, and strong academic support. I also look forward to joining a study abroad program while I’m here.
I plan to major in Computer Science with a focus on Cybersecurity, and minor in French (and possibly Data Science). I’m passionate about technology and how its development can be used to protect people and communities.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy hiking, playing football (soccer), netball, and basketball, as well as playing guitar. I’m also interested in music production, and I hope to explore this more in college.
I’ve lived in the DRC and South Africa, vacationed with friends in Zanzibar, and taken a family road trip to Zambia. This will be my first time in the U.S., and I’m excited to experience the culture, food, and diversity.
One interesting fact about me is that I donated stem cells to my brother through a bone marrow transplant at the age of 7.
At Lewis & Clark, I hope to grow both personally and academically. I want to make lasting memories outdoors, engage in cultural exchange, and build a path toward a career that combines technology, impact, and creativity.
