Hi! I am Luis, a recent graduate from UWC Robert Bosch College. I come from Germany, where I’ve lived all my life. I am very excited to start my college time in Portland at L&C this fall. Especially its location in Oregon, combining nature and city life, and the seemingly very caring, international, and open-minded community, made me choose Lewis & Clark College. At UWC, I learned in an amazing way how incredibly valuable friendships and connections across cultures and ideas are. I really loved spending time with my friends, and trying to understand their perspectives opened a new view on the world to me. I hope I can continue having those discussions in Portland.
With a great concern about climate change and its impacts on the planet, I strive to learn more and more in that field, with the hope of contributing to a more sustainable future. Thereafter, I plan to double major in Environmental Studies and Physics. I like the idea of approaching the climate crisis from a scientific perspective while making it accessible to everyone, which is why I believe it is a very interdisciplinary issue to tackle.
Outside of class, I love playing basketball or any other kind of sport. I hope I can continue my basketball career in college, even if not on a professional level. I very much enjoy being in nature and exploring all its fascinating beauty. That’s why I have also travelled with my family, squeezed in a small van, in Europe. I generally really appreciate spending time with my loved ones, whether that is having good conversations, cooking together, playing games, or any other activity.
