Class Year: 2029

Hello,
My name is Abdul Haq Amiri. I am originally from Afghanistan but for the past five years, I
have been living in India with my family as refugees.
I studied at Mahindra United World College of India, a school I had dreamed of attending for
years. My time at MUWCI was empowering not just academically but personally. What
made it unforgettable was the people, a community so diverse and open it completely
reshaped how I see the world. I learned the power of stories, in sharing, listening and
growing through connection.
At MUWCI, I loved the open spaces, both in class and outside, where we could come
together, discuss ideas and learn from one another. It taught me what it means to show up,
to care deeply, to support and to be supported. Most of all, MUWCI taught me the strength
in disagreement and the beauty of learning through it.
Outside of academics, I love reading, running and listening to music. Although I have only
traveled between Afghanistan and India so far, I have a long list of places I hope to explore
in the future.
I chose Lewis & Clark because of its green and natural campus, which reminded me of
MUWCI. I plan to major in International Affairs and am excited to join its unique community,
where I hope to contribute, learn, and grow together.
I want to graduate ready to strive for fairness and to spark bigger dreams in others, just as
many have done for me. Every conversation at MUWCI shaped me and I am eager to keep
building those kinds of moments, with new faces, new questions and new places to explore.
