Exempt Staff Elect Inaugural Staff Council
Last month, exempt staff selected nine representatives to the inaugural Staff Council. The number of open positions for each school was based on the proportional number of eligible staff: three representatives for CAS, two for Law, one for GSEC, and three for Common Services.
The Staff Council election was made possible after more than a year of a small working group of exempt staff who met withmultiple listening groups, which ultimately culminated in aproposalthat was approved by the Executive Council.
The following individuals have been chosen to represent their respective areas and contribute their insights and dedication to advancing our community:
Director of the Lewis & Clark First Year Experience Jonathan Manz was a member of the original exempt staff working group to create the staff council along with Assistant Vice President of Sponsored Projects & Research Compliance Kelly DelFatti, Director of Operations and Finance Scott Feickert, Director of Overseas & Off-Campus Programs Blythe Knott, Assistant Dean of Student Success and Retention, Director of the College Advising Center and CAS Advisor Katie McFaddin, and Associate Director of Overseas & Off-Campus Programs Kaitlin SommerfeldCollege of Arts and Sciences

“Each of these individuals brings unique perspectives and experiences that will enrich the work of the Staff Council,” Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Institutional Helen Howell said. “We look forward to their leadership and collaboration as we strive to enhance communication, foster inclusivity, and support professional development across our campus.”
The committee will host its first meeting on July 24 at 9 a.m. in Albany Quadrangle room 218. Staff council meetings are open to all (similar to CAS faculty meetings).
“I suggested to the group that we focus on leadership positions, meeting times and dates, and initiating the process of creating bylaws,” Director of the Lewis & Clark First Year Experience Jonathan Manz said.
