Exempt Staff Elect Inaugural Staff Council
Last month, exempt staff selected nine representatives to the inaugural Staff Council. The number of open positions for each school was based on the proportional number of eligible staff: three representatives for CAS, two for Law, one for GSEC, and three for Common Services.
The Staff Council election was made possible after more than a year of a small working group of exempt staff who met with multiple listening groups, which ultimately culminated in a proposal that was approved by the Executive Council.
The following individuals have been chosen to represent their respective areas and contribute their insights and dedication to advancing our community:
College of Arts and Sciences
- Jonathan Manz
- Blythe Knott
- Jimmy Chau
Law School
- Natasha Richmond
- Josie Duyck
Graduate School of Education and Counseling
- Courtney Whetstine
Common Services
- Amy Dvorak
- Jaime Cale
- Gaby Herrmann
“Each of these individuals brings unique perspectives and experiences that will enrich the work of the Staff Council,” Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Institutional Helen Howell said. “We look forward to their leadership and collaboration as we strive to enhance communication, foster inclusivity, and support professional development across our campus.”
The committee will host its first meeting on July 24 at 9 a.m. in Albany Quadrangle room 218. Staff council meetings are open to all (similar to CAS faculty meetings).
“I suggested to the group that we focus on leadership positions, meeting times and dates, and initiating the process of creating bylaws,” Director of the Lewis & Clark First Year Experience Jonathan Manz said.
