Lewis & Clark’s website is its most powerful storytelling tool. As the front door to the institution’s online presence, the homepage showcases standout content, offering visitors a compelling first look—and ideally, a lasting impression. To be an effective tool, the homepage must be focused on a clear message: Lewis & Clark is here to make change that matters.
To support that goal, the Office of Communications partnered with White Whale, L&C’s content management system vendor, to create a brand-new institutional homepage. This new page brings together a unified institutional voice and a modern user experience, prioritizing the design and messaging elements developed with support from marketing agency partner RW Jones. Each of the three schools—the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and the School of Law—will continue to have their respective homepages on their own web domains.
The goal of the institutional homepage is to offer an engaging snapshot of Lewis & Clark as a whole. In a competitive higher education landscape, the new homepage helps amplify what sets the institution apart while making it easy for users to find the specific school they are looking for. Lewis & Clark’s strategic imperatives, mission, and vision—along with the institution’s newly established brand guidelines—provide the foundation for all homepage messaging.
Lori Friedman, vice president of communications, is excited to see how this work will help to solidify the institution’s brand.
“The work that the communications and marketing team has done over the past two years to identify, shape, and curate Lewis & Clark's institutional identity has laid the groundwork for this new homepage. The strong engagement from the L&C community has made it possible to create a homepage that truly reflects who we are.”
There will be additional web design updates rolled out in the coming months. Stay tuned for more!
