Big Ideas
As part of the strategic planning process, we invited the campus community to craft Big Ideas proposals. Those proposals significantly contributed to the drafting of the imperatives and are now the starting point for developing initiatives and specific goals that will move the institution forward.
That work was then taken up by the Strategic Imperatives Advisory Council (SIAC), composed of faculty and staff from across the institution. The council presented its recommendations to the president and Board of Trustees in May 2025. During the summer of 2025, the president and Executive Council will review the recommendations of SIAC and will follow up with the campus community in early fall about next steps.
We share with Lewis & Clark Community members a library of the 28 Big Ideas proposals we received at the end of May.
When combined with our planning work from last year, these Big Ideas documents were invaluable in helping the Executive Council construct the draft strategic imperatives. We extracted themes from what we heard and read. We share the proposals now in the interest of transparency and as evidence of common and overlapping themes that emerged.
The SIAC is now using the Big Ideas Library as a resource to help us refine and clarify the most promising elements of the proposals. The council is currently reviewing and will be in touch with those who submitted proposals to provide feedback, ask questions, and suggest other next steps as appropriate. The council might also seek additional proposals in areas where a need is identified.
