The Office of the President invites all L&C employees for a year of planning and programming in support of Lewis & Clark’s partnership with Albina Vision Trust. Please join the upcoming book + film discussion on Sept. 30 or Oct. 1. We also need to hear your ideas for projects by Oct. 17 for collaboration with residents in the newly opened Albina One apartment building.
Opening the Book on a Historic Partnership
Graduate school faculty and students attended the Albina One grand opening, hosting a reading corner with books, games, and art making opportunities for families and children. The books and materials will remain at Albina One to become part of their future library.

The new collaboration will build a hub for education and economic opportunity within Portland’s redeveloped Lower Albina district to foster learning as a core value of the community and provide opportunities for Albina residents and Lewis & Clark students, staff, and faculty.

Albina Music Trust is a community archive dedicated to the preservation of Black musical culture from the Albina neighborhood in Portland. Join us for Watzek Library’s 25th annual Johannah Sherrer Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, October 14 at 3:30 in Miller 105 to hear about Albina’s historic music scene, and explore the ensuing Albina Community Archive, which preserves this legacy.
