September Moodle Maintenance Updates
The IT team has completed our September Moodle maintenance, focusing on critical updates to improve our learning management system. These changes enhance both security and accessibility for all users.
Our September Moodle maintenance applied critical updates to improve our learning management system. These changes enhance both security and accessibility for all users.
Accessibility Improvements:
-
Keyboard Navigation: Fixes were applied to improve keyboard navigation, particularly in the messaging and AI drawers, so you can move through Moodle more smoothly. An issue was also resolved where navigation was obscured by messages at higher zoom levels.
-
Screen Reader Compatibility: Screen reader usability has been significantly enhanced. The update corrects unlabeled buttons in the “Book” activity, ensures that combo boxes announce the number of items they contain, and clarifies search button labels in the messaging drawer. Fixes were also applied to issues with hidden HTML in feedback questions and a badges table that was difficult for screen readers to interpret.
- Forms and Editor: The Moodle text editor now notifies users when alt text reaches its character limit. An issue with missing form labels for essay questions was also fixed, and the handling of “required” icons was improved.
Security Enhancements: This update includes several behind-the-scenes security enhancements. These patches address various vulnerabilities, reinforcing the platform’s defenses against potential threats. By applying these updates, we are strengthening the integrity of user data and protecting the Moodle environment from unauthorized access.
