PioNet-Guest Wi-Fi Network Retiring January 5, 2026
The old guest Wi-Fi network, Pio-Net Guest, will be permanently turned off on January 5, 2026. To ensure you can reconnect easily when campus reopens, please switch from Pio-Net Guest to either LC Guest or PioNet before the winter break closure.
Pio-Net Guest Network to Be Retired
As Lewis & Clark prepares for the winter break closure, Information Technology is reminding the community the Pio-Net Guest network will be permanently retired and shut down on Monday, January 5, 2026.
This transition marks the final step in the successful rollout of a replacement guest Wi-Fi network launched on November 4.
The new guest network provides unsecured internet access only. Students and employees should use PioNet whenever possible for WiFi internet access. Please use the time before your final day on campus this year to ensure you are connected to the appropriate Wi-Fi network. This way you can easily reconnect your devices in the new year.
Note: This transition only impacts guest Wi-Fi connections. Those connecting via a wired (Ethernet) connection will not be affected, and do not need to take action.
For Students and Employees
- It is best to use PioNet for authenticated and encrypted access to the internet.
- If you have been using PioNet-Guest in the past, please transition your devices to PioNet when possible in order to avoid any disruption.
- The PioNet-Resident network will not be affected by this change.
- Find help and instructions on the Get Connected to PioNet page on the IT website.
For Visitors and Guests
- If guests require wireless access to the internet, please instruct them to connect to LC Guest.
- Connection instructions and suggestions for guides to include in signs, slides or visitor guides can be found on the Guest Wi-Fi Access page on the IT website.
