Hybrid WFR Recertification course is open to LC students, faculty, & staff as well as the general public.
This course may be used to re-certify current Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only) certifications. This hybrid format re-certification is taught by NOLS Wilderness Medicine, and includes roughly 4 hours of online coursework to be completed prior to the 2 days of in-person course sessions. This course includes review and practice of evacuation and decision making guidelines. It also provides wilderness medicine practitioners with current updates in the wilderness medicine field.
WFR re-certification is offered at L&C in November and May annually.
- $395 for General Public: Register through the NOLS website here.
- $325 for L&C Undergraduate Students: Register in-person at the College Outdoors office in Fowler 239, or by calling 503-768-7116
The fee for this course covers instruction, tuition, books, and first aid materials for the scenarios.
Participants should be prepared to sit, stand, kneel, bend, twist, walk, and carry >20lbs. The class involves classroom learning and outdoor rescue scenarios on uneven terrain in all weather conditions. Participants will be in close contact with one another, including physical contact (disposable gloves are provided). Participants will need to be able to make visual observations of patients.
No experience necessary! All of our trips are designed to teach you all the necessary skills required for this activity.
