Overview

At one time or another, many students feel overwhelmed by the stress of academics, work, family, or relationships. Student Counseling Center staff are available to help students cope with these and other stressors. About 15% of Lewis & Clark students (25% of undergraduates) visit the Student Counseling Center each year.

Student Counseling Center staff are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of all L&C students—undergraduate, law, and graduate (GSEC). We offer primarily short-term individual, couples, and group therapy, as well as crisis counseling. Our staff consists of licensed mental health clinicians.

The Let Out : Arts Night!

What: A chance for you to hang out, take a break, and express yourself creatively in a co-created space for supporting the well-being and belonging of BIPOC students. Using a combo of glitter-jar making and rock painting this event is an opportunity to explore who you are and who you would like to grow into being, or just make something fun and pretty! We’ll bring the art supplies and pizza so all you need to bring is yourself.

Who: Everyone is welcome!

The Let Out

The Let Out is a space which centers on the BIPOC experience at college and how mental health plays a part in this experience. All Lewis and Clark Students are welcome to participate in this space through listening and supporting each other. It is facilitated by one of our on-campus mental health counselors. The counselor is there to guide discussions and answer questions about mental health challenges while offering ways to cope while at college.

So, if you’re needing a space to decompress, learn new skills, or talk it out, this is the perfect space to do so. We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, in Lower Odell, Room 003

Student Counseling Center Statement on Racism and Oppression

Events in recent years have raised the national awareness about the brutal treatment and violence directed toward Black people and other people of color in the United States. These events have also, once again, highlighted the racial inequities and cultural injustice in America. Student Counseling Center staff are committed to supporting Black students, Asian and Pacific Islander students, other students of color, and their allies related to the stresses of these times, and to creating a more just, equitable world.

Statement of Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Student Counseling Center staff are committed to providing a safe environment for all by recognizing the unique identities of our diverse Lewis & Clark community. It is part of our professional ethics and personal values to promote inclusion and to be aware of the impact of privilege, prejudice, marginalization and discrimination in the lives of individuals. We strive to create an atmosphere where we foster dialogue and promote actions that respect and honor all persons. We believe that sharing and supporting varying perspectives facilitates connection, health, and wellness.
