What do you think about the role of AI in your life? Are there aspects of its potential that sound both promising and terrifying? What does it mean for us at Lewis & Clark? From creative opportunities to ethical dilemmas, AI is changing the way we live and learn. And we want to hear your take on AI at Lewis & Clark.

The Office of the President is hosting several sessions of Community Dialogues to understand our collective experiences and explore what it means to uphold our values in an age of artificial intelligence. We’re looking for community insight into your honest experiences, concerns, and curiosities.

All faculty, staff, and students are invited into open, honest, and thoughtful conversations about emerging AI technologies. These judgement-free conversations are designed to provide opportunity for dialogue about the complexities related to AI use on campus. Together, we will explore diverse perspectives on AI. We will hold space for both its creative possibilities and critical concerns. Through open dialogue, we aim to surface tensions, share enthusiasm and apprehensions, and collectively examine how AI is shaping teaching, learning, and work at Lewis & Clark. We hope participants walk away with a greater understanding of community members’ perspectives on AI and offer ideas that inform our future practices. All levels of AI experience and familiarity are welcome.

Community Dialogues offer an opportunity for small, structured conversation as we explore our various approaches and values.

These sessions are organized by role—separate groups for students, staff, and faculty—to promote a high level of openness and similarity among participants. By meeting with peers, we aim to more comfortably explore the impact of AI on roles, while leaning into important conversations that these new technologies raise.
