Fonts

Typography is a core part of our visual identity, shaping how our words look and feel. Our typefaces balance clarity with character, making sure our messages are legible and expressive. Used consistently and thoughtfully, typography helps to unify communications and give consistency to our brand.

Neue Helvetica: Our Sans Serif Font

Helvetica is clean, modern, and highly legible. It provides clarity and consistency across communications. Its versatility makes it ideal for many applications, ensuring accessibility while reinforcing a contemporary, professional tone.

Goudy Old Style: Our Serif Font

Rooted in tradition yet warm and approachable, Goudy reflects Lewis & Clark’s academic character and history. Goudy is best used for body, subheads, and moments where we want to convey heritage, trust, and a sense of scholarly depth.

Downloading and Purchasing

There are no free versions of these fonts available, and at this time, L&C does not have an institutional license. Versions of Goudy and Helvetica are typically available on platforms such as Canva, where we recommend using Helvetica Now Condensed and Goudy.

The fonts are available for purchase at the links below. At a minimum, we recommend purchasing the Regular, Italic, and Bold weights in Goudy; and the Roman, Bold, and Italic weights in Helvetica.

If you are unable to purchase licenses for Goudy and Helvetica and the platform you are using does not have closely named alternatives, please use Times New Roman in place of Goudy and Arial in place of Helvetica.
